Fall Prevention
When someone is not able to maintain a balance while walking, due to common neurodegenerative diseases in seniors, such as Parkinson's, Dementia, or Alzheimer's, and serious medical conditions such as a stroke, caring can become a challenge.
Studies show that one in 4 people aged 65 or older will experience a fall, and this risk increases with age.
This can lead to fear of falling.
Falling causes fractures and broken bones, including skin lacerations.
If you or your loved ones are experiencing falls that affect your Activities of Daily Living, we can assist you.
Skin Care for Seniors
Someone who is aging their skin is changing, becoming thinner, less stretchy, and paler. Older adults tend to bruise easily, and their bodies may produce less sweat and oil from the glands in their skin.
There are several ways to help the skin. Use mild soap (soap that does not cause dryness), wash with warm water, and use moisturizers to help dry skin and irritation. Older adults with incontinence may use a protective ointment such as petroleum jelly around their private areas.
Skin care is part of Seniors Activity of Daily Living.
